[237120, A1] Wk 3: Task 2 (Option B) – Writing Response on the Author’s Voice (Part 2)

Wallace’s tone in the text is very patient and informative; the text is clearly designed to convey information for an academic setting free from emotional language. The repeated use of the pronoun ‘you’ when talking to the reader is direct to engage the audience. This puts the author in a tone of authority without sounding condescending.

My response to the text is one of understanding, as I automatically assume the role of student in response to the academic tone in text. The use of accessible language and vocabulary to explain broad concepts makes the text easy to understand. It utilises examples to aid understanding and to apply concepts to personal experience.

I found the text interesting, due to how it expanded my understanding of the methodology involved in critical thinking.
