[237120, A2] Wk 4: Task 3C – Summary of a Paragraph Blog Post

Summary of Nicholas Mirzoeff’s How to See the World, chapter entitled ‘The World of War’, section entitled ‘The Rise of Drones’, paragraph 2:

Key Concepts:

  • Aerial warfare – Drones
  • Change in state of warfare
  • Method of eliminating threats instead of populations
  • Control of government

Summary:

Modern warfare is now conducted aerially with the use of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAVs), more commonly referred to as the drone (Mirzoeff 121). The use of drones has changed the state of warfare; rather than conflict for land, war is now fought against perceived threats such as terror or drugs (Mirzoeff 121). This is conducted by singling out targets who are head of operations for execution (Mirzoeff 121).
